Rode mine to work as well. Actually I had forgotten it was Ride to Work Day since that describes most work days for me anyway.

Well nothing today, but a couple morning rides this weekend. Only about 300 miles or so. I just wanted to ride early and get back before the heat got too bad. It was actually pretty nice for this time of year. Been doing most of my riding in C FL. It was actually nice to stay home and do some riding in S FL.
There are a few nice roads. Nice as in scenic, not nice as in curvy.

What the hell is this four-letter word called "work"? I'm getting older, memory's fading, but vaguely remember that as some kind of necessary evil... yes, that must be it.
A buddy named Charlie came over a coupla days ago, we rebuilt his front forks.... wow, never had a Gen2 pair come apart so easily. All good, new bushings and seals and fresh oil, cleaned up the front brakes while we were at it.

It's a mutual agreement where you give 1/3 or more of your day exchanging services for money. Usually the process seems unbalanced to the disadvantage of the worker.

I haven't worked since the entire senior staff of the company quit last August and have received an influx of $000.00 in the elapsed months since. Try that sometime.

Rode it to the Apple store to get my phone fixed. Evidently, enough of their cameras go bad that they now do surgery instead of replacing the phone.

A really sweet kid we’ll call simple jack (temperature checker and mask hander) saw my helmet and asked me five times what kind of bike I rode.

Scored free parking (metered spot tagged free due to malfunction) where I could check on the bike, and found a
Vietnamese place with badass spling lo’s while I was waiting for the repair.

Nuthin’......landscaper dropped 5 yards of topsoil right up to the garage door. Shovelled all day and got half way through it 😬. Apparently, I didn’t leave clear instructions with she who shall remain nameless!

ice_station_zebra,

I once got a truckload and a pony worth of dirt dumped at my front sidewalk; cost me US$100.00 delivered. That dirt pile was larger than a Chevy Suburban, parked at curbside. You'da laughed to watch me stringing power cords and table lamps out to each end of the pile that night, so nobody would drive a car into it. The lone-guy contractor showed up the next morning with a rented skid-steer Bobcat. He put every bit of that dirt where it belonged in one day. Amazing. We were sweeping up, two hours before sundown. I think the Bobcat rental was US$75.00 for the day and it was worth every penny. The operator was priceless.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
Yeah, I ride motorcycles. I know why dogs put their heads out of the car windows.
Yeah, I fly hang gliders (3000 hrs.+). I know why the birds sing.

The motivation is high get the topsoil moved and it will pay dividends. ;)

Moved the handle bars back about a half inch. Washed it.

Cleaned and lubed the chain

on the DR650.

Didn't ride it to work yet again. But, we did ride 120 miles to meet a sounder of NERDS for breakfast. We had a great time and a great ride. There was a lot of road construction but by good luck it didn't really hold us up. Like always, we were too busy eating to take any food porn pictures.
