Tried out the black 20307 I picked up a while back. It will never be a touring shield, but I think it’ll see a lot of hot weather use. Around 6 hours total. Not a bad run, considering I snuck it in during the workweek.

Tomorrow, the 20308 goes back on, barkbuster storm handguards come off for summer, and oil/filter/FD fluids get changed.
Funny Bill, as I met a Virginia friend and stayed up at Tapocco for a week. Tough Life Huh? As you know the weather was great. Rode about 1500 miles all over. Came home looking for my "Gap Photo" and thought I saw your bike in there. Your lucky to be close enough to make a day trip out of it. Where I am I always stay over but hey close enough so no complaints. Gap photo from 2 perspectives. I see them, they see me.

I picked up one of those motorcycle lifts to make changing oil, cleaning and just about anything easier! Pretty cool!

Well I paid just a bit more than $200 but it's a bit more mobile than that. That is ingenius though without a doubt! I used to have one of those lifts too! Oh well.....

Added a RAM mount to the clutch clamp. I had the part to mount a RAM on top of either the brake or clutch reservoir but I am concerned it will not seal out moisture so that is sitting on the shelf.

Instead I bought a couple of steel spacers and grabbed a couple of washers. Painted them black.

Image

The idea is to assembly it like this, keeping the RAM mount offset from the stock clamp, avoiding damage.

Mounted it looks like this.

I want to mount my phone on the bike. Maybe I can ween myself off Garmin.

RAM on some kits includes those spacers and the longer hardware, FYI. The U-clamp kit designed to mount to a conventional handlebar does not.

Lots of folks buying up those Kyocera duraforce pro's and running various apps on them. I dug out my wife's old Samsung and wiped it, then removed as much Samsung preinstalled crap as it'd allow, and then have installed a few apps with maps downloaded for my trip to Red Lodge. I'll be running it side by side with my Garmin. Should keep me entertained on the long straight roads across western Texas.

If I like it, I might pick up one of those ebay duraforce pro's when I get back.

Rode my FJR a short distance today. Testing things.

Yesterday the UPS person dropped off a Rev'it Tornado 3 Jacket. So I tested it. Plenty warm enough with the liner at 70°. So far so good. The collar is very nice with adjustment, the thermal water proof liner and jacket fit nicely over my Rev'it pants and the overall fit is very good. Need to test the airflow.

Put my Oneplus 7T phone on my FJR today. Removed the Garmin, paired the phone directly to my Sena 20S. Created a route in Google maps and followed it. Works pretty well. I could see the phone all day time regardless orientation of the sun. The Google maps route had multiple points and upon arriving at each I had to click on the map to continue. Using the gloves with the phone was hit and miss affair. Learned to answer the phone using Sena20 S today - one push on the phone button. I could see using the phone as a GPS if not for lack of being water proof and need to find a app for routing. The Advrider link provided by gixxerjasen is helpful but at 275 pages good grief.

The proper suspension sag on my ES with just me on it and no luggage is two helmets. So I road it around on some county roads between 40-65mph today with the damping set to soft -2. Nothing to report.

Nice! I haven't been out in mine yet. Had to do an exchange on the pants, and then it's already been up to 102F here. Had a cold front come through so I might get out on Saturday morning for some breakfast burritos, but I for sure won't be using the liner. I pretty much already have that packed away for Red Lodge.

Which color did you end up with? I was hesitant to get the blue but really like it once it came in seeing it in person.

Well I was going to ride the FJR today but it is raining this morning. Maybe go for a spin this afternoon.

Wifey had her right front upper tooth extracted yesterday and it went well. She looks like Alfred E. Neuman now without the temp tooth in place. Alfred's left tooth was missing however.

In the meantime I am going to look for phone map apps.

I bought a white Rev'it Tornado 3 it was was closest to hi viz - they don't offer a hi viz option. I will start a new thread in the gear area.

They did have a hi viz tornado jacket at one time. I have had mine a few years. Jacket has held up great. Color is faded but not too bad.
