A 4-4-2 that didn't get extraordinarily bad mileage wouldn't be much fun.

Got to work and finished bleeding the brakes and used Rayzerman's ABS test harness for the first time! So easy now with the speed bleeders.
Also installed Garauld's stiffy kit without a hitch and put the tail back together again.

Rode it home from the office after dropping off work vehicle. After being outside in the 60’s and 70’s all week, and 31F had me considering putting the Cee Bailey back on by the time I got home.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Finally installed the brake assembly that Jim (Morecowbell) sent me. New pads went in also. Thanks again Jim. Next time we are together, I owe you at least a few drinks.
Brake bleeding will have to happen soon. Andy is sending me some speed bleeders, I might wait, but I only had Dot 3 fluid here. Gotta pick up the Dot 4 tomorrow. Pictures of the messed up assembly coming soon.
I only had to switch out the piston portion. Dripped just a little fluid out when swapping it out. I looked at my brake fluid level and it was unchanged.

I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
This is what happens when some dumbass puts both pads on the inside and lets the rotor touch the assembly opposite the piston. The aluminum parts are no match for the steel rotors. Oh yeah, that DUMB ASS was me.

Not supposed to be shiny parts on the assembly.

I would have thought you would notice the noise long before that much damage was done. The exposed part of the piston looks a bit corroded as well. I assume it was OK further in.

Because in the winter up here in northeast Ohio, they dump tons of this stuff called salt, to melt the snow and ice...and when you ride all year, that salt gets on things, and that's generally not good, so every now and then you need to wash that shit off.
Oh, and I rode to work today

Ahh yes, I recall that stuff and washing it off of my wife's car. I don't recall owning a street bike up there though, sadly. I did get to ride some sweet tracks though.El Toro Joe wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 7:16 amBecause in the winter up here in northeast Ohio, they dump tons of this stuff called salt, to melt the snow and ice...and when you ride all year, that salt gets on things, and that's generally not good, so every now and then you need to wash that shit off.

Damn dude, that's pretty bad. Almost as bad as my stuff, but you got a bit more dumb ass to do if you want to top me.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Got to ride a bit this weekend. Bob (Intech) set my suspension. It wasn't too far off, but he firmed a few things up. It felt better but I was overthinking the riding after the adjustments. I am looking forward to this weekend where I can just start being one with the bike.
I am a pretty conservative rider and have to spend most of my time in Florida. So I am going to put off any kind of suspension upgrades for the time being. I plan to just make one more adjustment Bob told me about. Then ride it for awhile. Then making do some adjustments as I understand suspension set ups.

That one is almost as good as the ABS failure last year.Cav47 wrote:This is what happens when some dumbass puts both pads on the inside and lets the rotor touch the assembly opposite the piston. The aluminum parts are no match for the steel rotors. Oh yeah, that DUMB ASS was me.
