Lubed the relay arm. What a pain that is, especially the first time since you have to cut away 2 bolts on the center stand because Yamaha decided to put the bolts in the "wrong" way. But, at least it's done now. The Abba stand worked like a champ...MUCH more stable than the iron pipe lift.

28K miles and I am just now getting to it. I will be sure to get this done sooner.

Sure thing. I have a post in the other sandbox for that: https://www.fjrowners.com/forums/11-fjr ... eview.html

Please note that I put the stand on with the lever on the right side of the bike today which is opposite the pictures in the review. Either way works, of course.

Changed the fluids with the help of my Son. Drained the oil and final drive. Put in the 4 qts of oil and he thought I was putting the .23 qt in the final drive. Whoa dude what you doing? I can multitask you know.
I'm just here to make sure you don't have any old people accidents. Sent him for a quarter for the trick Ray showed me to keep from squirting out the brake master cylinder while pumping. Is that authorized? You just watch and learn Grasshopper.

Totally authorized. Use a Canajan quarter, and you can just leave it in there even though a magnet will fish it out. Actually use any quarter, it won't hurt a thing to leave it in there.

Confirmed the neither the battery or tires are flat. There is an actual, real chance of getting the FJR out of the barn on Tuesday. I was just out in the car and it looks like the recent heavy rains have washed away sufficient salt and pushed back the roadside snow banks enough to get 'er done.

Had a nice 200 mile ride through the back country yesterday with a couple of buddies. We rode somewhere and ate something. Good weather, scrubbed in the new Roadsmart 3s proper, all returned home in one piece - nothing special.

One of my buddies bought this as a compliment to his beautiful RT for "day trips". I think he missed the mark, for that kind of money, he could have bought a baby KTM holligan machine and had mad change left over. But it's eye candy anyway.

Installed speed bleeders all the way around and bled the clutch. Hope to get around to bleeding the brakes by the end of the week!

It rained pretty good yesterday, washed all of the salt off the roads. Here in northeast Ohio...ya gotta take advantage of the good days, it will be nice later today. I did see a few patches of black ice (that I was able to avoid) this morning.

Actually, a couple of days ago -- I RODE IT!!! First ride of 2020. We managed to burn half a tank of winter gas. There is still a lot of salt along the roads so we did only limited riding. If we go north from my house, the more north we go we see this: salt salt salt salt SALT

Just down the road from us the poor cows are finally able to get out of the barn and get some sun. The farmer is also glad to get them out so he can stop shoveling, well, you know what.
Image

More cows. Cows with a real atti-tude problem. There's a lot more of them but too scattered to get a good picture from a moving FJR.
Image

Olde fire station. The bridge is a turn table that opens to let big boats and sail boats up the Merrimack river.
Image

There are seven turkeys taking turn dusting themselves in the foundation plantings ruining everything.
Image

In downtown Newburyport this guy took our picture so we returned the favor.
Image

We rode on to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. One side of the island is marsh, the other side is scrub, then dunes then the Atlantic ocean. The ocean in this location is really good fishing.
Image

There is an itty bitty white spot in the center of this picture, it's a mute swan. There are a lot of swans in the Refuge right now. This is about the earliest that they have ever returned.
Image

We rode about 20 miles on roads like this. The brown blur in the center of the picture is an immature bald eagle. There are about 10 bald eagles in the area right now. We have one that has started nesting in the area of our lake. More about the eagles later.
Image

WTF. Look in the rear window of this car, I believe the car belongs to the Burger King king.
Image

Downtown Newburyport museum, the back side is right on the Merrimack river and is about 1 mile from open ocean.
Image

There were a lot of gray seals at the mouth of the Merrimack river where it empties into the ocean. This area can be a boating nightmare. These seals are why we have a large population of white sharks. Yum, shark food. This is also the trailing end of seal pup season. Now, back to the bald eagles. Yum, eagle food. The eagles have been out harassing the seals.
Image

Out on the tip of Plum Island, at the Coast Guard station we found this guy taking his new-to-him car out for its first drive. He says it gets extraordinarily bad gas mileage. From the way it sounds, it has been worked on a bit and should get bad mileage. He was so focused on texting with his phone we couldn't really talk with the guy.
Image

And so ends another Grand Day Out.
