Grand Rapids you say..... Man you are lucky you didn't come straight down and get marooned in Owosso!! Kudos to the navigator!

Enjoyed all the trip report, wondrous and epic, pics of some familiar places I've been and will go back to. Awesome!!

Very nice - thank you for spending the time to take us along.

I've crossed the mighty Mac a few times and have managed to avoid having to do it in the rain (so far). The U.P. is less "epic views while riding / driving" and more a "stop and see the hidden jewels" type of ride.

Thanks. So we learned. And learned it the best way to learn it.

One man's hidden jewel may be his sidekick's "what took you so long!"

After fueling at a store someplace remote in norther Michigan I went in, without my phone, to get some ice. The place had a little grocery, hardware, auto parts, and a gun case. All the long guns in the case were polished blue and shiny wood. A pre 64 model 70 and at least three Browning lever guns caught my eye. I guess the owner kind of feels for Browning rimfires like I do for Marlin 39s. Checking out I tell him that it's good for me he doesn't have a case full of old Marlins. He says "funny you should mention old Marlins.........."

Im envious of your crossing the Big Mac, I don't see a single construction barricade keeping you off the pavement and on the open steel grating peering on the waves 100feet below. Crossed in 79 and in 85, both times staring down through the grating with heights challenged hysteria clawing at the edges of my conciousnous. My fear of heights and falling has subsided somewhat after riding the Million Dollar Highway on my FJR, but it lingers in the recesses. You got to ride on pavement damnit!

I enjoyed this report immensely. The photos and food porn would have been more than enough. But I'm really appreciative that you took the time to share some feeling about the ride. I was right there with you and your lovely soft spoken better half.

It's getting long overdue for me to rustle up an adventure of my own. This report makes me kind of feel like riding.... and writing.

Well done, Duane. Indeed!!
