So, it's blue, right? Nothing to see here.
My wife asked me why I speak so softly around the house. I said that I was worried that someone was listening. She laughed, I laughed, Alexa laughed.

Meh, HD and Ducati and others have been releasing matte finishes for a while and there are those who like them. I like it but would prefer the shiny version myself. But it's a tired market right now and maybe they'll pull in some buyers who would prefer the matte finish and this is the part that pushes them over. We'll see. It's still far better than boring silver.

Whew! Dodged another bullet since they didn't release the six speed in the beautiful red. The old 14 is safe for another year unless I find a 16ES holdover at a great price.

Since I worked for a HD dealership for several years I saw plenty of that matte finish paint. Be aware if you buy one and it' anything like HD used you have to be careful what cleaning products you use as the finish is not as durable. Harley even brought out a special detailing spray just for that paint.

And the phrase given is religious in nature. Something about all sins being accounted for not missing a dot or an iota...some versions use jot and tiddle, presumably because King James couldn't read Greek???

I'm reserving judgement until I actually see one. I thought the 2014 color was awful until I saw one in person. It may not be as bad as you think.

I can't stand the silver so anything but that. But I would like Yamaha to get a little more varied with their color selection.

No way this is uglier than the 2007 brown color. THAT is the ugliest FJR ever made.

The 07 was PURPLE! I know, I had one and everyone called it purple. Sumbiches!

Now I have a '14, which has been called "Ticket Me Red".

My thinking on the matte finish is radar avoidance. The F-22 has a matte finish...low radar cross section, low visibility. Its the Stealth FJR. Gotta be...

Abercrombie. He changes bikes like he changes underwear and he can use that radar absorbing ability IIRC.

Not a giant fan of the matte finish or the $18K price tag. But you’ve all seen my spectacular fashion sense. I’m waiting for a hyper-orange plaid paint scheme.

Redfish wrote: Thu Sep 21, 2017 5:56 pmI refuse to pay for an FJR with a Matte finish. I like it shiny. I cannot see this actually selling, but I am not a marketing genius. The "color" isn't bad. The finish sucks.
Now I do not know if this would work, 'cause I am not a paint expert . . .
Maybe all that FJR matte finish needs is a bit of polishing and wax. 8-)

History (if anybody is curious): When my first motorbike (160cc Ducati Monza) needed paint, 'way back in the day, I sanded and painted the tank, fenders, and side panels in an old garage. I used a vacuum-cleaner spray gun, filled with Dark Gray Primer. I had seen a Metallic Emerald Green finish coat that I liked, so that was the plan, at first. When I started sanding the primer, though, my chalky whitish paint job became an amazing dark shade of dove-gray. As my sandpapers got finer, there came a deep luster that I had never seen with any primer. Curious, I went into the finish grades of sandpaper, and the color and luster only got better. I decided that the Emerald Green was not gonna happen. I did some rubbing, then applied a coat of clear, followed by paste wax. The results were amazing. This deep lustrous gray was unique enough that few riders would agree on the color of my bike. Some wanted to meet my "paint guy." Nobody would believe that *I* did it.

Anytime somebody would ask me about this incredible show-car paint job, I would simply tell them it was Dark Gray Primer. The usual response was about like this: "Okay, Smart Guy, you don't HAVE to tell anybody what paint was used. A$$hole!"

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
Yeah, I ride motorcycles. I know why dogs put their heads out of the car windows.
Yeah, I fly hang gliders (3000 hrs.+). I know why the birds sing.

Can't answer that but can tell you that Harley finally issued a handout to any customer purchasing one of the new matte finish bikes a list of cleaning products you should or should not use with their matte paints. If I recall, and it's been a few years now, even something like Simple Green was not friendly with that paint HD used. Only really mild detergents and no waxes were to be used. As I said, I'm not a fan.
